Fundraising Ideas
In an ideal world schools would always have enough financial backing, churches would receive enough money from donations to run the church and help with the different charities, and sports teams would get enough money from tickets and concessions. This is not a perfect world; this is a world of endless fundraising. There are always plenty of volunteers to do the fundraising; the problem is finding new projects that will actually make money.
Are you looking for some good fundraising methods for a school, church, or other organization? If so, then read on! We've compiled some of the best fundraising ideas that can help you raise the money you need quickly and easily.
One of the most popular fundraising ideas is to hold a raffle and solicit donations to use as prizes. Good examples of popular raffle prizes include handmade quilts, fine art, Longaberger baskets, gift certificates for stores or restaurants, and themed gift baskets. Then, simply offer raffle tickets for whatever price you desire. Make sure you don't underprice or overprice the raffle tickets. If you underprice, you won't make any real money. If you overprice, you won't sell many tickets. Raffle tickets can cost anywhere from fifty cents to five dollars depending on the value of the prizes being offered.
You can also raise funds by selling items. Some popular fundraising items are candy and gourmet food and scented candles. There are companies who specialize in fundraising, and offer colorful catalogs you can hand out to prospective customers.
Have you ever tried a traditional bake sale? Everyone loves homemade baked goods! Recruit members of your church, school or organization to donate their time to preparing their favorite cakes, cookies and pies. Delicious treats at moderate prices can ensure a successful sale!
Car washes are also popular. Many schools offer car washes on roadsides and parking lots. Many stores will let you use their lots for fundraising car washes. All you have to do is ask! For a successful car wash, make sure you have bright, eye-catching signs that are easily visible from the road. You can make the car wash free and solicit donations, or charge a small fee for the car wash.
Auctions are also great fundraising idea. This works well at a church with lots of members. Members can sign up to provide a valuable service, and other members can bid on the service they want. Examples include housekeeping, personal shopping, manicures, dog walking, handmade arts and crafts, and more.
If you don't mind all the work involved you could try a giant yard or garage sale. Ask people to donate clothing, toys, electronics, home decor -- anything they no longer need or want. Then invite the community to your giant sale and watch the profits roll in! To raise even more money and help customers beat the heat, try a lemonade stand along with the sale.
These are just some of the many fundraising ideas that you can try. There are lots more, and with some research and creative thought, you can come up with the perfect fundraiser for your organization!
